We’ve been here over 37 years… so what makes us “new”? Here are a few of our New Deli specialties:

• No chemicals have been added to the 100%-chicken that we cook up on our own. We use this all-natural chicken in our chicken salad, for many of the green salads, and for our Chipotle Chicken and Watson sandwiches. No cloned meat here, AND, we don’t throw in any extra non-chicken “meats”. Whew!
• We also roast our own beef. Again, no chemicals- just 100% beef!
• We make our own dressings. Most of them start with 100% olive oil (which wasn’t easy to find, but- we found it)
• We make our soups from scratch. No “Mrs. Grass” onion soup mix for our French Onion Soup, and no frozen or canned soups on the menu
• We have a lot of exciting vegetarian sandwiches and soups too!

New Deli features— we have over thirty different sandwich choices, from Turkey Muenster Melts to the traditional French Dip, to Vege-Burgers and Grilled Tofu, just for starters. The Reuben has been a hot menu item lately. No wonder- we use naturally fermented sauerkraut, and a homemade dressing loaded with spices, honey, and tomato (killer 1000 Island- yum).

Call to discover “the soup of the day” (it varies). Most of them are gluten-free and vegetarian. We also always have French Onion Soup, and vegetarian Black Bean Chili (with or without cheddar cheese).

We have great salads too, which come with homemade dressings! We weren’t happy ’till we could find good quality olive oil, which we use in all our oil-based dressings. Maybe that’s why our Greek Salad tastes so good!

We get pretty busy, but we’re still eager to help you at the front counter. You can also call in orders Monday-Friday at 510-724-5335, for a quick, easy pick-up. (Read more about our recent weekends-off decision here.)

Or, email Jen at  [email protected], (capitalized, since some folks forget the “THE”!). But call to confirm we got the order, if you don’t get a confirmation within five minutes. (We don’t check online once lunch rush hits.)

Yes, we’ve been here in Pinole, California for some time now. So what’s new, right?! Well, some of those folks who’ve patronized our place for the last 30 years know: There’s always something new going on. Starting in early 2011, we revamped the place. Stop by our 2011, Before-and-After page for some photos. We had another update when we changed paint colors and added track lighting- ah, a more modern look! See that here: 2014 Makeover.

And so we continue in the quest to give our customers delicious, well-prepared foods made from scratch. A few excited patrons recently claimed that we HAD to mention that we offer plenty of vegan choices, and lots of non-gluten daily soups made without flour or other refined ingredients. (Many soups are non-dairy as well.)
